📰 High School of Fashion Industries' 2025 Runway Show Brought the Rainforest to the Concrete Jungle
✨ Fashion Insights & Trends:
This year, the fashion design cohort at the High School of Fashion Industries (HSFI) looked beyond New York City for design inspiration for their annual runway show — like, really far, to the Amazon rainforest.
On Thursday, rainforest creatures came to sartorial life at HSFI's 2025 student fashion show, aptly titled "The Rainforest: An Amazon Sanctuary." Down the cobbled stones of NYC's Gansevoort Plaza came over 100 original designs styled, modeled and created by this year's graduating senior class. Well, with one exception: Nike athlete and Olympic gold medalist Laurie Hernandez surprised showgoers as she walked the runway in a design by senior Sophia Kavanagh. (Nike sponsored the event.)
"For the third consecutive year, the Meatpacking District served as the runway for the youth who are shaping the future of fashion and creativity in New York," Jeffrey LeFrancois, executive director of the Meatpacking BID, said in a statement. "The work created by HSFI students embodies so much of what makes our city special – it's smart, edgy, whimsical and inclusive."
Students interpreted the theme with similar elements like floral appliques, wild animal prints (cheetah, tiger, snake), butterfly motifs, plant textures, insect-like silhouettes and all shades of green and blue. See every look from HSFI's 2025 student runway show below.
