📰 The 9 Standout Trends From Milan Fashion Week Fall 2026

✨ Fashion Insights & Trends:

Perhaps in response to winter's freezing temperatures, Milan's Fall 2026 collections leaned into practical yet undeniably stylish outerwear, dramatic fur collars, shredded knitwear and layers upon layers of coats.

Boss, Prada and MM6 Maison Margiela campaigned for mustard yellow as fall's standout color, while seafoam green (eerily reminiscent of the 2010s-era mint green craze) emerged across Vivetta, Jil Sander and Diesel's runways. Italian designers also bid adieu to trad wife silhouettes, instead embracing menswear detailing across womenswear styles.

Check out the top Fall 2026 trends from the Milan runways in the galleries below.

A Side of Mustard

An unexpected frontrunner for fall's standout shade has entered the ring: Mustard yellow, in all of its tangy glory, prevailed across the Italian designers' collections. Deeper, dijon-esque variations appeared at Boss and MM6 Maison Margiela, while good ole American yellow mustard-tinted garments debuted at No.21 and Prada. Makes me want a hot dog real bad.

Seafoam Dreams

Don't be alarmed, but the mint green hue that dominated the 2010s has resurfaced. Alabama Muse reimagined the electric shade into a pastel-forward slip dress, Vivetta embraced a head-to-toe seafoam-colored ensemble and Jil Sander added a pop of color with a mini bluish-green handbag. For the 2026 rebirth of this aqua-coded shade, think less 2010s mint green, and more Venus emerging from the seafoam.

Make It a Double (Coat)

More actually is more when it comes to the Milan runways. Missoni, Act No.1 and Brunello Cucinelli swaddled their models in multiple layers, proving that just one coat isn't enough to brave winter's blustering winds. The takeaway here? Don't listen to Coco Chanel, and instead add one more layer before you leave the house.

Poncho Party

Echoing the spacious capes and oversized shawls seen in New York and London, Milan designers also embraced voluminous ponchos. Ermanno Scervino swaddled its models in blanket-esque wraps, Etro added sequins and feathers to the airy style and Moschino turned a vibrant rain poncho into high fashion.

The Shredded Effect

Fashion's response to the cultural shift toward AI perfectionism? Rebel and embrace looking unpolished. That concept took shape in many ways on the runway, with one prominent example being Italian designers' embrace of shredded knitwear. Labels including Moschino, Roberto Cavalli and Tokyo James sent models down the runway in knit sweaters, dresses and coats that looked purposefully snagged.

Mini Skirt Suits

Mini skirts are back en vogue, but this time as part of a matching ensemble. For school-girl-esque and officecore inspo, take cues from labels like Onitsuka Tiger and MSGM by pairing minis with a matching blazer. Once it's time to clock out, leather co-ords make for an easy nighttime look, as proven by Gucci and Elisabetta Franchi.

Bye Bye, Trad Wife

Call it the anti-trad-wife effect: Designers are incorporating traditionally menswear-associated details — ties, cummerbunds, pocket squares, lapels, tails — into womenswear looks. Some labels like Boss, Emporio Armani and Brunello Cucinelli opted for more overt interpretations like oversized suiting; other designers like Avavav and Fendi mixed in traditional feminine elements like lace.

Balloon Pants

As a natural evolution from last season's barrel pants, balloon pants made their presence known this season. The silhouette appeared in various fabrications, from denim (Moschino) to leather (Roberto Cavalli) to wool herringbone (Bottega Veneta).

Fur Collars

It's clear fur was on everybody's mind during fashion month, having been a standout trend on both the runways and in street style. In Milan, fur collars took center stage on the Fall 2026 runways, ranging from contrasting textures and colors attached to coats and blouses, to standalone neck details layered atop sweaters.
