Many aspiring makeup artists dream of the opportunity to work with a legend like Pat McGrath.

Now, at least one lucky individual will get to turn that dream into a reality: The dame has launched a casting call on Instagram and TikTok to recruit new talent. Starting Monday, makeup artists can enter for a chance to win a coveted position on her backstage team.

"I have always believed that some of the most extraordinary talent lives beyond traditional paths," McGrath said in a statement. "A contest opens the doors wider and invites artists to show up exactly as they are. What excites me most is the element of surprise. You are not just reviewing resumes or reels. You are witnessing raw creativity, courage, and point of view in real time. That energy is where true innovation begins."

Makeup artists across all areas of expertise are encouraged to apply, including content creators, backstage experts and editorial pros. Participants can enter in one of two ways: The first option is to post a video on Instagram or TikTok recreating an iconic Pat McGrath look from the runway, editorial or red carpet. The other is to submit original work that showcases candidates' unique vision and artistry.

"I am looking for originality first and foremost," McGrath said. "Technique is important, but I am equally drawn to intention, confidence and storytelling. I want to see artists who understand why they are making the choices they make. Passion, fearlessness and a willingness to push beyond comfort zones always stand out to me."

This isn't the first time McGrath has discovered promising talent through a casting call on social media: She first conducted one in 2014, after which the selected talents went on to work backstage at top fashion shows, side by side with McGrath herself.

Now, 11 years later, a new crop of innovative makeup artists has their chance to be a part of the dame's legacy.
