✨ Fashion Insights & Trends:
The activewear market can feel stagnant when it comes to design, with countless brands offering the same plain, unimaginative black and grey spandex sets. But with the rise of the "pink pilates princess" aesthetic on social media, reformer regulars are asking for more from their workout outfits, and brands are listening.
A mix of new and familiar labels in the performance-apparel space are are rolling out full collections, new SKUs and themed colorways (think "coquette" creams and "cherry girl" reds) to meet the growing demand for softer, more feminine exercise gear, often swapping out compressive, tech-forward materials for more breathable fabrics.
Splits59, a Los Angeles-based label, has taken note of this shift, prompting its design team to focus on "style-led activewear by designing pieces that balance technical performance with a refined, everyday aesthetic," according to VP of Ecommerce Shannon Quarantino.
"It's a reflection of a shift toward intentional movement and effortless style," Form Activewear's Co-Founder, Sami Clarke, told Fashionista via email. "We are looking for pieces that are wearable beyond the studio; feeling your best is part of the practice."
Below, discover (and shop) nine brands nailing pilates-positive and fashion-forward activewear — from flowy, movement-friendly pants and ballerina-inspired wraps, to standard-fit sets in bright, striking hues.
Splits59
Designed with retro sportswear in mind, Splits59 activewear looks just as good after a reformer class as it does during. The brand's playful striped track pants, varsity jackets and cropped football-inspired jerseys are movement-minded as well as visually distinctive.
