Inside fashion's size inclusivity decline

The New York Times' fashion critic Vanessa Friedman traced why fashion is moving backwards in size inclusivity. She noted conservatism, the rise of GPL-1s and an expensive supply chain as reasons the industry is glorifying thinness again. Things won't change until the industry is willing to recognize size inclusivity as a standard, not a fleeting trend, Friedman wrote. "People still come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Seeing the reality of life reflected on the runways, which have become a form of entertainment for everyone, is actually more appealing than seeing life reduced to one size that cannot fit all." {The New York Times/paywalled}

Fashion supply chains brace for climate change

Fashion manufacturers worldwide are already experiencing the impacts of climate change, including unpredictable weather events, extreme heat, floods and water stress. The most pressing concern is the deadly impact on garment workers. In response, suppliers are leading the charge in advocating for climate action rather than relying on large brands to set targets. Although implementing climate-effective solutions has proven difficult, more labor unions, government agencies and non-profit organizations are willing to invest in measures to mitigate the impacts of climate change as it becomes more prominent. {Vogue Business/paywalled}

Saks Global and Amazon end their e-commerce partnership

Saks Global has ended its e-commerce partnership with Amazon, shutting down its "Saks on Amazon" storefront. An anonymous source told Reuters that Saks ended the collaboration because it saw limited consumer participation and wanted to focus on other parts of the business. The luxury retailer and marketplace giant have been in a legal battle ever since Saks filed for bankruptcy. Amazon accused the retailer of misusing its investment and breaching the terms of its agreement. {Reuters/paywalled}
