Could Sephora drop Huda Beauty over Huda Kattan's Iran comments?
Huda Beauty founder and CEO Huda Kattan manages one of Sephora's best-selling brands, but her often misinformed political viewpoints have jeopardized her business and image. Last week, Kattan posted a now-deleted Instagram story seemingly supporting the Islamic Republic of Iran in the wake of the regime's bloody crackdown on protestors. Kattan then posted a video claiming she is not "pro-regime" but has heard "mixed things" about it, but also believes she doesn't know enough about it to speak on it. Sephora has yet to make a public statement, but some stores in the U.S. and Canada removed Huda Beauty signage from their windows. {Puck/paywalled; Ahead of the Kirb/paywalled}
How Dior and Chanel are tackling fashion's pricing problem
Chanel and Dior raised prices by 59% and 51%, respectively, on selected products between 2020 and 2023, compared to an industry average of 36%. These price hikes pushed upwards of 50 million shoppers out of the market. Now, both Chanel and Dior are bulking up the lower end of their leather goods selection. Bag charms, brooches, ballet flats, scarves and sneakers serve to hook shoppers until they are ready to enter the expensive handbag category. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}

The shipping technicality holding back circular fashion
Shipping codes were developed by the World Customs Organization in 1983 to help customs officials make sense of global trade. The six-digit codes are used to classify products being imported and exported between jurisdictions, and to determine which taxes and duties are owed. If you trade in new garments, there are hundreds of nuanced codes to use, but circular products only have a couple of options, which hinders transparency and traceability. {Vogue Business/paywalled}
Nili Lotan opens denim concept store
On Thursday, Nili Lotan opened her first dedicated and permanent denim concept store at 183 Duane St. in Tribeca. The space repositions denim as a core luxury category and as Lotan's defining next chapter. "Denim has always been more than a piece in a wardrobe.
