When designing her Fall 2026 collection, Tory Burch went back to "familiar territory," she told Fashionista in a press huddle backstage at her Wednesday night show. "Whether it was a pair of my dad's corduroy pants or a shetland sweater that we've crazy washed and made almost feel like cashmere — we treated it so much. I wanted things to feel a little safer, in a way."

This return to softer, more palatable pieces is a direct reaction to the current state of the world, which Burch called "chaotic and desperate and sad." Rather than create garments that feel fleeting or timely to a fault, the designer opted to root each item in endurance: "I am obsessed with things around longevity. So, how do you have something that you can take today and wear 10 years from now and not really have a date in mind from when it existed, and it's still as fresh as it [was] when you bought it?"

These ideas are reflected in crisp, Peter Pan-collared button-up blouses, tailored funnel-neck trench coats, ultra-thin turtleneck Henley tops, boatneck fisherman sweaters and beautifully pleated, silky long-sleeve dresses for day or night.

"I think when it comes down to it, if you can focus on innovation and beautiful things, I think that's super interesting for how women dress today," Burch explained. "I think they want to not always wear something super expensive. They want to take an old T-shirt and it has to be the best version of that. So that's kind of what we focus on."

To the remixed sounds of Dolly Parton's "9 to 5," Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and David Lynch's "Pinky's Dream," models boldly strutted through the packed audience (which included the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Pamela Anderson, Tessa Thompson and Marcello Hernández) in effortlessly polished, impeccably styled outfits that felt equal parts casual and elevated. They looked as if they were on their way to work, headphones blasting their favorite music without a care in the world — essentially, giving major main character energy (as the Tory Burch woman often does).

On the runway, the key accessory that punctuated each classic, unfussy silhouette was a metal sardine, expressed as delicate gold brooches and large silver pendants.

"I've always been interested in fish...I've done articulated fish over the years. We did a trout once," said Burch. "My parents always used to bring these little fish charms back from Greece when they went there. So I've always been enamored with fish. I actually like the shape of sardines. I've always been obsessed with them."

Soft leather quilted shoulder bags, vividly colored handwoven totes, 70s-style geometric belts and embroidered velvet ankle-strap pumps rounded out the evening's full accessory lineup.
