✨ Fashion Insights & Trends:
Athena, Queen Penelope, Helen of Troy and Calypso all walk into a room. While they all couldn't be more different from each other, there's one thing they clearly have in common: They know how to serve a gag-worthy look.
At least, that's the case if we're basing the scenario on Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey"'s press tour fashion. Over the past few weeks, leading women Zendaya (Athena), Anne Hathaway (Queen Penelope), Lupita Nyong'o (Helen of Troy) and Charlize Theron (Calypso) have turned out multiple Mount Olympus-worthy looks. (Can someone please make statues of them?)
Styled by Law Roach, Zendaya has delivered the most appearances and, unsurprisingly, has fully leaned into method dressing. For her first premiere appearance, she kicked things off in an ivory Jacquemus gown, featuring a column silhouette, halter neckline, super-low back and an attached headscarf. While it doesn't exactly scream "goddess of war" at first, Athena is famously known for wearing white, which symbolizes her civic order and purity. The actor accessorized the look with ancient-coin-like gold earrings.
A day later, Law Roach did his biggest one, putting Zendaya in a sculpted Schiaparelli gown that had just debuted on the Haute Couture Fall 2026 runway that happened in Paris only a few hours earlier. The piece features a white porcelain bodice with a plunging waistline and a beaded ombre skirt, making Zendaya look like a statue that came to life.
Then, on July 14, the actor took Athena's "guardian angel" role seriously, attending the NYC premiere in a floor-length white Matières Fécales Fall 2025 gown that featured feather angel wings. In an interview on the premiere red carpet, Law Roach revealed that when he saw the look two years ago, he immediately asked the designers Hannah Rose and Steven Raj to hold the dress. "I knew she had this movie coming up—I don't think the movie was made yet," he said. "I asked them to hold the look for us, and they held the look this entire time. They didn’t send it to anyone else."
Meanwhile, Zendaya's co-stars have also held their own sartorially — albeit with a much subtler approach to Grecian fashion. Hathaway, styled by Erin Walsh, went full on regal — a fitting approach given her character — wearing many elegant, flowy maternity gowns; Nyong'o and her stylist Micaela Erlanger kept it contemporary with nods to the original text through unique textures and detailing. She's been very versatile with her looks, ranging from a feathered Lapointe suit to a sculpted Nicholas Oakwell Couture gown.
As for Theron, who's styled by Leslie Fremar, she played into her sea-nymph character with water-adjacent colors and textures. Take, for example, her Tom Ford short suit worn at a Paris photocall. The look sported reflective satin short-shorts that gave a liquid finish. A day later, she stepped out in a cascading Dior gown, featuring a peplum waist and waterfall-effect skirt.
