📰 The 19 Best Beauty Products Fashionista Editors Tried in September
✨ Fashion Insights & Trends:
Each month, Fashionista editors try a *lot* of beauty products. And while not every formula we test is a winner, we're constantly unearthing new favorites. Here, we've rounded up our latest hair, skin, fragrance, wellness and makeup discoveries — whether fresh-to-market drops or merely recent additions to our personal routines.
After a fashion-filled September, our editors are finally coming up for air and reflecting on all the beauty finds that carried us through the whirlwind month.
Since we needed our makeup looks to survive the trials and tribulations of fashion week, we reached for a baked powder blush, a long-wearing lip crayon and a ceramide-powered plumping lip tint. Our skin-care favorites included a redness-soothing gel cream, a niacinamide-packed serum to reduce congestion and a pineapple enzyme-powered cleanser for gentle exfoliation. Before we dive into fall's pumpkin-forward fragrances, we embraced a chocolatey gourmand, a rosy vanilla blend and an amber-scented hand sanitizer-serum hybrid.
Ahead, see (and shop!) all of our top beauty discoveries from September, below.

Kosas Blush Is Life, $29, available here: "As a work-from-home girly, fashion week is about the only time I need my makeup to last from morning to night, and this talc-free powder blush came in clutch. I would use it over my usual subtle cream blush; in addition to adding a bit more color and dimension (while still looking natural), it stayed in place even after sweating through shows in un-air conditioned venues." —Dhani Mau, Editor in Chief

Medik8 Clarity Peptides, $54, available here: "After finally (mostly) getting my hormonal breakouts under control, I've been able to lay off some of the more intensive anti-acne actives lately. Instead, to keep my complexion clear and ward off minor congestion, bumps and visible pores, I've been incorporating this lightweight, niacinamide-packed serum. It features a 10% concentration of the multi-tasking ingredient, alongside zinc PCA for additional clarifying power, peptides for smoothness and hyaluronic acid for hydration. It's mild enough for everyday use and layering with other products, but it's also really effective." —Steph Saltzman, Beauty & Style Director

Ilia Lip Sketch Hydrating Lipstick + Lip Liner Crayon, $26, available here: "This chunky lip crayon offers a surprising amount of precision. It may have a matte finish, but it's incredibly hydrating, plus, it offers great staying power. (For reference, I wore it from day to night during NYFW with zero touch-ups.)" —Janelle Sessoms, Staff Writer

Gemi Elysium Hand Sanitizer + Serum, $12, available here: "You'll never catch me without multiple hand sanitizers in my bag. My recent favorite is this sanitizer-serum hybrid from Gemi, a new hand-care brand inspired by the Korean word for 'fun.' Out of its five scents (none of which smell like alcohol in the slightest), Elysium immediately caught my attention thanks to its amber-y vanilla core, boosted by a lush peony note. The spritz-on formula boasts centella asiatica, panthenol, propanediol and camellia sinensis leaf extract, all of which leave my hands feeling soft (and sanitized!)." —Catie Pusateri, Staff Writer

Anfisa Ân-Gloss Ceramide Lip Tint in Spice Cake, $45, available here: "The rich color of this tinted glossy balm stayed intact while I ran around during fashion week, and it also kept my lips feeling hydrated. I love the brown-tinged deep mauve shade, and apparently, so does everyone else: I've never received so many compliments on a lip color in my life." —Savannah Sitton, Market & Branded Content Editor

Circē SupraTonic C Antioxidant & Antipollution Serum, $105, available here: "Most vitamin C serums are sticky and fairly basic, not to mention that they're notorious for quickly oxidizing and losing their potency. This formula solves for all of those issues: It's silky and fast-absorbing, and combines 15% vitamin C with fermented rice water to fight fine lines; tranexamic acid for brightening power' glycerin and sunflower seed oil for moisturization; and a mix of antioxidant extracts to protect against environmental stressors. Plus, it's housed in 16 little glass ampoules — alongside a plastic breaker to help safely open them — each of which contains two doses, keeping the formula fresh and potent for every use." —Steph

Byoma Blemish Acne Treatment Pimple Paste, $11, available here: "I'm (literally) scarred from harsh acne treatments I used in my younger years, so I approach most spot treatments with caution. Byoma's new blemish line includes a sensitive skin-friendly, clay-like paste powered by 2% salicylic acid (to unclog pores) and kaolin clay (to pull out impurities), along with camphor and kojic acid (to reduce post-blemish marks). With regular use on stubborn spots, I've noticed a reduction in redness and size come morning. As a bonus, there's also no overwhelming sulfur-like stench." —Catie

Rhode Peptide Lip Shape Contouring Lip Shaper, $24, available here: "Lip liner isn't something I would've necessarily seen as an 'essential' for me, but when I realized I'd forgotten to pack any for my trip to NYFW, I panicked slightly. Rhode's PR very kindly came to the rescue, giving me the opportunity to try its buzzy 'contouring lip shaper,' which I love. It's totally foolproof to use and adds just the right amount of definition and volume." —Dhani

Timebeam Ice Baby Cryo Roller, $29, available here: "This diminutive face tool is an impressive multitasker: With one large and one small steel ball on either side, it massages the contours of your face easily, offering an icy, de-puffing effect (particularly if you store it in the fridge or freezer). And since the body is plastic, it's lightweight and comfortable in my hand." —Savannah

Hanyul Artemisia Soothing Gel Cream, $36, available here: "Trust me, the hype is real when it comes to Korean skin care. My latest K-beauty favorite is this lightweight gel-cream hybrid from Hanyul, which is formulated with artemisia leaf extract and cica to soothe sensitive, acne-prone skin. Now my go-to nighttime cream, the redness-reducing moisturizer is also packed with panthenol to hydrate the skin barrier and niacinamide for a brighter-looking complexion." —Catie

Fara Homidi Soft Glass Lip Oil, $46, available here: "The last few years have seen approximately 5,293,482,039 lip oils enter the market; this one from makeup artist Fara Homidi's eponymous brand is a real standout. It beautifully marries form and function: The lightweight, softly shiny oil feels cushiony and comfy on lips, imparting a hint of lovely color. But don't let its good looks fool you — the ingredient list is equally legit, with hyaluronic acid, ceramides, peptides and a 'biofermented oil complex' that offer smoothness, plumpness, hydration, barrier support and softness. While both shades are gorgeous and would easily flatter any skin (or lip) tone, my current favorite is Tawny, a sheer brownish berry that's perfect for fall." —Steph

Sisley Paris Phyto-Eye Palette 2 Bois de Rose, $125, available here: "If I could charge this palette rent because of how often the shades have taken up residence on my eyes this month, I would. The highly-pigmented, powder-to-cream shades glide on so smoothly and really make my complexion pop. Typically, I only need to apply one shade and go, but on a couple of occasions, I've mixed and matched, and it's easily blendable with zero smudging." —Janelle

Seen Frizz + Repair Treatment Mask, $36, available here: "Frizz is my most constant, frustrating hair concern, so this new mask from dermatologist-developed, acne-safe hair-care line Seen immediately piqued my interest. It truly delivers on its promise to 'fight frizz and help to repair damage in as little as five minutes without weighing down your hair' — those last two factors are especially crucial as I'm an impatient person with fine strands." —Dhani

Each & Every This Love Natural Fragrance Body Mist, $40, available here: "Each & Every recently expanded into body mist by translating its natural deodorants into fine fragrance. I'm partial to This Love, a romantic rose-and-vanilla blend that exudes a delicately floral scent. It's a lightweight bouquet that never feels overpowering or powdery, and it pairs perfectly with its matching deodorant. Call it kismet, but it also shares a name with one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs." —Catie

Shark Glam Ceramic & Powerful Air Styling & Drying System, $450, available here: "This gadget feels like hair styling from the future: With a lightweight body, it offers six interchangeable stylers that easily snap into and out of place with a simple press of a button and twist. Designed for use on wet or dry hair, it comes with a straightener, blow-dry brush (with built-in metal smoothing teeth), two 1.25" auto-wrap curling barrels (to use on opposite sides of the head), a blow-dryer concentrator and a frizz- and flyaway-smoothing finishing tool. It's made for all hair types and textures, and while I can't personally vouch for that, I can attest that it works miracles on both my natural fine, wavy, frizz- and fluff-prone natural hair and my thick, dense, chemically-treated, extra-long hair extensions. Super impressive." —Steph

Rhode Pineapple Refresh Cleanser, $30, available here: "The gel cleanser lathers nicely, while pineapple enzyme offers gentle exfoliation. I suds it up in the shower and let it sit on my face for a minute or two while I wash my hair, and it leaves my skin feeling so soft." —Savannah

L. Erickson Grab & Go Pony Tube, $24, available here: "These hair ties are honestly such a game-changer. They hold my thick hair all day without slipping or snapping, and the braided design makes them super durable. The gold bead closure is metallic but not metal, so it also doesn't snag or cause any issues. I also appreciate that they're cute enough to wear on my wrist when they're not in my hair." —Savannah

Evolvetogether Hydrating Hand Cream, $30, available here: "The packaging may be minimalist, but the hand cream inside really packs a punch. It's rich and ultra-hydrating without being at all greasy or sticky, and the lavender-chamomile scent is perfectly subtle and relaxing." —Dhani

Kayali Oudgasm Chocolate Oud Travel Size, $38, available here: "When I first smelled this fragrance, I imagined it's what Charlie felt like when entering the Willy Wonka chocolate factory: a delectable chocolate fantasy you'll never get enough of. With key notes of caramel apple and chocolate oud, you'd think the sweetness would be overkill, but the note of spice rum balances it out. It results in a warm and slightly sexy scent that totally matches fall vibes." —Janelle
In case you missed last month's picks, you can find them here:
Elix Herbal Digestif, $36, available here: "I've officially ditched Tums in favor of these warming herbal drops that quickly and effectively soothe my occasional post-meal indigestion, bloating and general discomfort. Best of all, it genuinely tastes delicious so I can just squeeze the drops right into my mouth — no need to mix them with a beverage." —Dhani Mau, Editor in Chief
